Large Maple Spanworm Moth
The Large Maple Spanworm Moth, or Prochoerodes lineola, loves to grow on maple trees, but it's not just maples they adore. They also enjoy oaks, birch, willow, and many other types of trees.
This moth has a quite cool shape and color to it. It almost looks like a brown leaf moth, and often the edges of its wings are a little crenelated and wavy as well. The moth has fuzzy antennae. I saw this one in early October.
