Poison Ivy
Poison Ivy is one of the nastiest plants found in Massachusetts. You absolutely want to know how to identify poison ivy through photos and descriptions. I have gotten poison ivy rashes so strongly that my face swelled up to look like a basketball. Save yourself from my fate. Know what this looks like, and avoid it at all costs.
The rule is "leaves of three - let them be". Any time you see a leaf set that has three green leaves coming from a single stem, stay away. Yes, sometimes they have a red stem. But sometimes they do not. It's safer to always be wary.
One thing to look for is that the central leaf of the three tends to be symmetrical. It is matched on the left and right. But the two side leaves often look like mittens. They are NOT symmetrical and have a lobe sticking out on one side. You can see that pattern with these images. Click on any image for a closer look.

This next set is from the side of the house in 2014.

A poison ivy rash can be REALLY nasty. If you think you have any poison ivy on you, wash thoroughly. Then wash again. You do not want this stuff anywhere near your skin.
