Indian Lake / North Pond Worcester MA Kayaking
Indian Lake, also known as North Pond, is located in the northern area of Worcester, Massachusetts, in the general area of the Showcase Cinemas. This lake / pond is heavily populated and surrounded by houses and roads. We went kayaking here in August 2012 after renting a kayak from New England Backpacking, also in that area. Here's an image of the lake to show how busy it is - ![]() That being said, we were there from about 4pm to 5:30pm on a Friday afternoon and there were very few boats in the water. Nobody else but us was using the boat ramp both when we put in and took out. The waves were fairly brisk, and the water is a murky, brown / olive green color which doesn't look very healthy. We saw a swan, a few cormorants, a few ducks and geese, and that was about it. Here's a photo from our day out there, of the boat ramp - ![]() Certainly worth visiting once, but I'm not sure we'll be back again. Here's the slideshow of images!
