Kayaking Stump Pond / Mill Pond Westboro MA
Stump Pond in Westboro MA is also known as Mill Pond or the SuAsCo Reservoir. The reason it's known as stump pond is that it is FULL of stumps. That's because back in 1968 when they made this reservoir they left all the trees in it. So over the years the trees have fallen down and decayed - but there are still a lot of stumps from where they were. In some parts, being here is like trying to carefully kayak through a maze. You can barely fit between the stumps. We have seen painted turtles, a family of swans, lots of bluegill fish, ducks, geese, and cormorants here.
