Kayaking on Webster Lake Webster MA

Kayaking on Webster Lake, Webster MA photo Webster Lake in Webster, Massachusetts is also known as Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. Many think this is the longest place name in the United States. It's an Indian name of course, and while there are some claims about what it means, apparently many of them are urban legend. Wikipedia reports that the generally settled on actual meaning is simply "boundary fishing place" (not the "I fish on my side ..." story).

In any case, this lake is huge, and nearly 1,500 acres. It's made up of three connected lake systems. When we kayaked it, we only made it through the lower one and into the middle one. To be fair, we spent a lot of time exploring the cool cedar swamps.

Here are our photos.
