Along with romaine, spinach, and zucchini, there's another veggie that your tadpoles will love. That is carrot - the favorite vegetable of Bugs Bunny! Just like rabbits, tadpoles enjoy the orange treat.

Carrots have a variety of vitamins in them, but they really shine in Vitamin A. That's important for eyesight - and tadpoles absolutely need excellent eyesight. When they grow up, they have to have split-second timing to grab a fly or bug out of the air. Providing them with vitamin A as they grow up helps to ensure their eyes form in a healthy way.

Wash the carrots and then cut them into 2-inch lengths. Now cut those into a bunch of tiny sticks, like little toothpicks. This will make it easier for the tadpoles to eat them.

Take an ice cube tray and sprinkle a bunch of these into each one. Freeze them. Carrots are very tough veggies, so you definitely need them to go through the freezing and thawing process to soften them up. The tadpoles will then have an easier time of eating them.

I've seen a tadpole grab one of these carrot-sticks like a dog with a bone in its mouth. He swam over to a corner of the tank to nestle in the gravel and contentedly munch on it.
