I immensely enjoyed writing Aspen Allegations. Up until now I'd written a number of non-fiction books, as well as ten medieval novels set in England in the 1100s. Writing about medieval English characters is certainly fun - but it's also distant from where I am. Every day I wake up and breathe in the natural landscapes of New England - of central Massachusetts. When I started rolling around the idea of writing about these hills and forests I adore so much, it called to me greatly.

I loved being able to write about the sunsets, the rainbows, the waterfalls and rivers that were around me. I enjoyed incorporating the rolling clouds and the sparkles of witch hazel.
